 Of course, we have been a mail order company since long before the internet, so you can always write an "old fashioned" letter, and send it to Rafter-four Designs, PO Box 40, Cocolalla, ID 83813.

The most asked question is from folks who are trying to learn how to re-create the rugs that "Grandma" made. Before you write to us just saying that she made "rag rugs" be sure to take the tour! You'll see that there are dozens of ways to make "rag rugs" and we need a bit more information to help you with the particular type she may have made. See if there is a similar looking rug on the tour. It also helps to describe the type of tools and materials that Grandma used, and any other details you know. We've helped a lot of folks to re-establish a family rug making tradition.

Sometimes the only way for us to firmly identify an old rag rug is through photographs. You can send photos as attached JPEG (.jpg) files -- but please edit your file size to under 500K. Include a photo of the front and back sides and a close-up of the edge of the rug and include text explaining what the photos are. You can also mail snapshots to us. Be sure to include a stamped self-addressed envelope if you want the photos returned.
There is never a charge for identifying your old rug!

We also offer free tech support for your rug making endeavors. If you're just getting started with rugs or are in the rug making business (or trying to be), we'll do our best to help you along with whatever advice you may need. (Of course, if your question is really interesting, we may put it up on our "Letters" page, but don't worry, we will only use your first name, not your city or email address.)

Your privacy is important! We do not send mass mailings or emails, nor will we sell your name or email address to anyone else.
 

Why we are no longer accepting direct Mastercard and VISA sales.
For 19 years we have processed our customer’s Mastercard and VISA mail order sales through our local bank. Unfortunately they decided to go to third-party processing, located off-shore. We simply no longer felt that our customer’s card information was secure. So after all of those years we have decided simply not to process the cards directly. (Credit cards can still be used with the PayPal system which maintains our shopping cart.) We know this will be an inconvenience to some of our customers, and for that we apologize, but hope that you do understand that our first concern is the safety of your card information.
We know that this is probably an old-fashioned attitude but we feel a responsibility to our customers who have trusted us all of these years to protect their cards.


Why we no longer have an ordering phone line
Rugmakers are the nicest people in the world and everyones loves to talk about their rugs. However, once we stopped taking direct credit card orders, we found that all that visiting got way too expensive (and our work didn't get done)! So we had to take out our ordering line. Please send us your rug questions by email. It really does save staff time and help us keep prices down for everyone.
